It is Verse Kraken’s policy to respect and safeguard your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you through our website,, and other sites we own and operate.

Verse Kraken is responsible for storing and using information given to us in a safe and legal way. This policy is compliant with the requirements of the the General Data Protection Regulation.

Personal information

We only record and process your personal information when you give it to us, and when when we truly need it to provide a service to you. This may include your name and contact details, which we collect when you contact Verse Kraken, apply to one of our retreats, or register to receive e-newsletters. Retreat applicants may be asked about their work and interests, and to submit a sample of creative work. We also often ask about accessibility requirements. In all cases, we’ll let you know up-front what we’re collecting, why we’re collecting it, and how it will be used.

When we take your information we will ask if we can use it to contact you in the future about news and opportunities relating to Verse Kraken. If you do not want this to happen you will be able to say so on the forms we use to collect your data.

We only retain collected information for as long as necessary to provide you with your requested service, unless you’ve stated that you’re happy to keep hearing from us. What data we store, we’ll protect within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorised access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. 

Sharing information

We don’t share any personally identifying information publicly or with third parties, with the exception of cases where it’s required by law, occasions when you’ve given us your explicit consent (eg to share a piece of work you’ve produced with your name attached), and with a small number trusted third-party partners who provide our email and database services. All such partners are similarly compliant under GDPR and/or the EU/Swiss Privacy Shield.

Our website may link to external sites that are not operated by us. Please be aware that we have no control over the content and practices of these sites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective privacy policies.

Use of cookies

A cookie is a small text file on your internet browser and hard drive that uniquely identifies your browser. When you visit our website with cookies enabled in your browser, standard internet log information will be collected about your interaction with the website. We collect this information to help us understand how people use the website and how we can improve their experience. We do not use cookies to collect or store users’ personal information.
